Crew 002

Crew 002

Mission Overview

MMAARS–NAUTILUS OPS Crew 002 represents the next phase of high-fidelity analog aquanaut training and research, scheduled for January 2027 at Jules’ Undersea Lodge. Building on the operational success and scientific foundation of Crew 001, the mission continues to advance human performance, space health, and AI-integrated mission systems in isolated, confined, and extreme environments (I.C.E.E.), within a controlled underwater habitat simulating conditions analogous to long-duration spaceflight.

The mission will be led by Dr. Joseph Dituri and Emmy Jewell, ensuring continuity in leadership, operational standards, and scientific rigor. Dame Commander Dr. Susan Jewell will serve as a Crew Member, contributing expertise in space medicine, analog astronautics, and frontier technologies.

Crew 002 will further expand the MMAARS mission framework by advancing integrated research across AI-enabled behavioral health systems, human performance, and extreme environment medicine, while continuing validation of operational protocols and technologies critical for future space exploration and terrestrial applications. A limited number of additional crew positions will be filled through a highly selective process from qualified candidates within the MMAARS training and research pipeline.
